Opening Atheletic Field

Recently we opened our new athletic fields. The student of the campus organized a football competition were teams formed by the students of the different faculties participated. I officially opened the athletic field and the ceremony by kicking the first ball.

My B-Day

On the 28th of March I celebrated my b-date. On the picture you can see me and my daughter. I served two cakes for my colleagues during the "Koffie Morgen".

Economic Seminar 2008

The Department of Economic Affairs and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics of the University of the Netherlands Antilles are organizing a Economic Seminar consisting of 5 seminars. On the 27th of February was the first seminar. During this evening I as the Rector Magnificus made the introduction for the seminar. The seminar will en on the 28th of November.

Course Good Governance

In May, Good Governance will start with a course for commissioners of public and private ventures. On the 15th of May Prof. Roel in ‘t Veld made this announcement during a presentation that was held in La Belle Alliance of the Avila Beach Hotel. I was also present at this event as Good Governance is one of the projects of UNA.

Lecture Prime Minister of The Netherlands

In February the prime minister of the Netherlands Mr. dr. Jan Peter Balkenende visited the Netherlands Antilles. During his visit he also gave a lecture at the University of the Netherlands Antilles. I started the evening with a welcome speech. After the lecture the student were given the opportunity to ask questions.

Dies Nathalis

On the 11th of January the University of the Netherlands Antilles celebrated the Dies Nathalis. During this event I presented the Annual Report of 2007. The keyspeaker this year was Drs. ing. Steven Martina. Also on this evening the title of Honoris Causa was awarded to Mgr. dr. Amado Romer.

New Student Council UNA

Recently the UNA's new Student Council was installed. The members of the Council are: Max de Groot (secretary), Roderick Evertsz, Murry Brooks, Alex Driesprong, Jonathan Estanista and Jhanira Anita (chairwoman).
